Anita Pati


Anita PatiAnita Pati currently lives in London but was born and brought up in a northern seaside town. 

Her debut full poetry collection, Hiding to Nothing, was published in April 2022 and can be ordered here or here. It has been reviewed widely (see Reviews page) and was supported by an Arts Council England award and a Society of Authors grant.  

Hiding to Nothing has been described as a “humane, fierce, original and uncompromising debut from a major new voice in British poetry,” by poet Fiona Benson while Rebecca Tamás at The Guardian says: “This visceral, affecting and politically astute collection announces a courageous new voice in British poetry.”

Anita’s first pamphlet Dodo Provocateur, published in autumn 2019, won The Rialto‘s Pamphlet competition and was shortlisted for the Michael Marks Prize. It can be ordered here:

Her poetry has been published in magazines, anthologies and on websites including Poetry Review, The Times Literary Supplement, Poetry London, New Statesman, Guardian Online, The Rialto, The North, Butcher’s Dog, POEM, Magma, Wasafari and Best British Poetry.

Anita has been a Jerwood/Arvon mentee, an Aldeburgh 8 participant, a winner in the Wasafiri Prize for New Writing in Poetry and a joint winner in the Rebecca Swift Foundation’s inaugural Women Poets’ Prize. 

She has worked in libraries and as a freelance journalist among other things.
